Harrier Ramblings 24th August 2010 AMW Road Champs - Woodville – a big thanks to the 23 who made the commitment to get over the hill last Saturday for a great day – believe me, you missed out on a great afternoon tea (that’s why we go isn’t it??) if you weren’t there!!! For those doing the 10km it was a tough wee course – whoever put that mountain in at 7.5km was a sadistic swine. But we had some good performances – none better so than the old blokes with Ken Thomas & Jeremy Griffiths both looking the goods. I’ve swiped the full results from the Feilding Moa website (thanks Rob) with the only name missing being Robyn Martin who did 8km of the 10km walk. Here they are:- This Week Ross Greaves Trophy. The battle over Durie Hill & Bastia Hill will leave a few gasping this week no doubt. The details are as follows (all events are sealed handicap):- SM/VM/M20/M18 – 10km - start at base of Durie Hill steps at 1.30pm. Ross Greaves Trophy. SW/VW – 10km - start at base of Durie Hill steps at 1.30pm. Gary Wolland Memorial Trophy. W20/W18/G16/G14/B16/B14 – 4.2km - start at base of Durie Hill steps at 1.30pm. – Martin Trophy. Mens/Womens Walk – 10km - start at base of Durie Hill steps at 1.00pm. Chilcott Trophy. U12 – 2km & U9 – 1km – start at southern end of Kowhai Park at 1.30pm. Martin Trophies. Make sure you are on time so that you are well briefed as the course requires you to have your wits about you!!! Marton To Wanganui Relay – this is the last weekend to make sure your name is registered for a team so get your name up on the whiteboard at the clubrooms!!!! Otherwise I’ll catch you on Saturday. Cheers. Roger The P.
17th August 2010 Clubrooms Road Relay – a good turnout on Saturday for this event. The rain made things a bit of a nuisance but it was a good burnout over the 2.6km (according to Bill’s gadget). I have attached the full results so you can compare times for bragging rights. And we didn’t lose anybody!!! This Week AMW Road Champs - Woodville. Bush Harriers host our Road Champs at Woodville this weekend. I already have a lot if interest for Saturday. A 12-seater van has been booked to leave the Clubrooms at 10.30am. I will confirm in the next day or so those who have indicated they wish to travel over. The van is practically full so if there is anyone willing to take a vehicle to take any overflow that would be appreciated. The event starts at Papatawa Hall. Travel through Woodville towards the Hawkes Bay. Just after leaving town turn left on to Pinfold Road. The right on to Valley Road. Stay on Valley Road past Papatawa School to the start line at Paptawa Hall. Start Times:- Open Mens/Womens Walk – 12.30pm – 10km. MW35+ - 12.45pm – 5km. W19 – 12.45pm – 5km. Girls 16 – 12.45pm – 5km. Boys 16 – 12.45pm – 6km. Boys/Girls 10 –1.00pm – 2km. Boys/Girls 12 –1.00pm – 2km. Boys/Girls 14 – 1.00pm – 3km. Men 19 – 1.10pm – 8km. Senior Women – 1.10pm – 10km. Senior/Masters Men – 1.10pm – 10km. Prizegiving is at 2.30pm at the Papatawa Hall. So we should be back between 4.00/4.30pm. I will try & contact the likely candidates by Wednesday night but if you are interested please contact me. Don’t forget that with Marton To Wanganui Relay approaching, make sure you lodge your name on the board at the Clubrooms to be part of a team. Also approaching is the National Road Relays at Inglewood. The course looks an absolute beauty so for all you registered athletes lets’ see what we can do about getting a few teams up there – I am picturing at least a Junior Womens, Junior Boys, Senior Mens and maybe a composite team?? Otherwise I’ll catch some of you on Saturday. Cheers. Roger The P.
